Aymeric Dupré la Tour

French harpsichordist Aymeric Dupré la Tour was appointed Artist in Residence at Zuckermann Harpsichords International. Impressed by the quality and sound of Zuckermann instruments, Dr. Dupré la Tour decided to learn more about harpsichord building and voicing, an art that Richard Auber, owner of Zuckermann Harpsichords, masters to perfection, in the great tradition of David Way.

Recently awarded a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Juilliard School, Dr. Dupré la Tour has been promised a brilliant career by mythic figures such as Gustav Leonardt and his beloved Juilliard teacher Albert Fuller. Dr. Dupré la Tour's scholarly work on Louis Marchand, his treatises and vocal music demonstrates his expertise on French music between Lully and Rameau. Dr. Dupré la Tour holds an Artist Diploma in organ performance and a Master's degree in Historical Performance from Oberlin College (OH). He has performed throughout the United States as well as in Canada, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, and France, in venues such as Alice Tully Hall, Merkin Hall, Carnegie Hall, the Cleveland Museum of Arts, and the church of Sainte-Eustache in Paris.

A versatile keyboardist and improviser, Aymeric Dupré la Tour strives to provide interpretations that are historically informed and personal, meticulous and passionate. It may be that Dupré la Tour's early training as an earth scientist - he co-authored an article for the Compte-Rendu de l'Academie des Sciences - paved the way to his work in Early Music, where one always needs to explore different possibilities of interpolations. When there is an unbroken link of tradition, Dr. Aymeric Dupré la Tour is proud to trace his teaching lineage to Faure, Franck, and Beethoven.

Dupré la Tour says, "the most exciting aspect of working with Zuckermann Harpsichords is that here you have a shop that is really inventing the 21st century tradition of harpsichord building with new designs that are historically based, but also optimized for great stability and reliability so that one can have an instrument which is as strikingly beautiful as an antique but with a stability that Couperin and Bach could only have dreamed of."

Aymeric Dupré la Tour is currently the Music Director at the Waldorf School in Garden City (NY), organist and music director at the Lutheran church of the Epiphany (Hempstead, NY), and piano faculty at Suzuki on the Island (Manhasset, NY) and Gracias Music School (Huntington, NY).
